What are We Working For?
Christ tells us in John 6:27 to labor for the meat (the old English word for food) the endures unto everlasting life. We all know why we work our day to day jobs. Yet, many Christians have given little attention to what Christ talks about in this, one of the few but very important, New Testament commandments.
In fact, I believe that perhaps the greatest thing that separates the true Church from the common, vain religion of the day is the labor for this food that Christ is speaking of. Simply put, that food is Christ himself, later described as the Bread of Life John 6:35, and more specifically the Word of God.
